The intent is to persuade people to adopt groupthink and also to scare dissenters into silence and complicity when they see that thousands of people online are in agreement.

Seldom discussing religion. For me God is a non-entity much talked about. Why? because people, believers, simply need God for their personal comfort and feeling at home in the universe with somebody caring about it all. I wish you well. I am myself old. But man-made global warming is a fallacy -- there is no science to support it, and abundant evidence about past climate cycles to conclude that it is primarily a natural phenomenon, to which human activity may contribute at the margins. And humans did, after all, make it through an ice age or two -- we can adjust! And the most recent post-ice age warming period allowed humanity to develop advanced civilizations.
